The Mathematics Department

Your child will study five key areas of Mathematics in Year 8 to 10.  These are: Number, Measurement, Space, Chance & Data and Algebra.  These areas will also incorporate Working Mathematically which focuses on the processes that Mathematicians use to solve problems.
Your child is expected to have their own pens, pencils, ruler, protractor, compass and paper.

A calculator is required in all years and these can be purchased from the front office.  Calculator use is an integral part of the learning program in conjunction with mental and writing skills.

Your child’s progress will be assessed using the Outcomes and Standards Framework that is used throughout the Government school system to monitor and evaluate student achievement.  A portfolio of selected work will be compiled during the year.
